Mental illness is characterized by a temporary or persistent inability to cope effectively with life's changes. Individuals with mental illness often experience difficulties coping in our complex society and are often overwhelmed by everyday activities and stresses. With treatment, many people with mental illness can return to productive, enjoyable living.

Camino Real Community Services offers a wide array of services designed to meet the needs of individuals with mental illness. These services include Screening, Assessment, Referral, Case Management, Medication Related Services, Counseling, Crisis Intervention, and a full range of Rehabilitative Services, and Family Support. Camino Real serves persons of all ages.

Being mentally healthy doesn’t just mean that you don’t have a mental health problem.

Adult Mental Health

Our Clinics offer a wide array of mental health services for adults ages 18 and up, as well as supports for the families. With proper treatment, those with mental illness can return to leading more fulfilled lives. The sooner a person gets
into treatment, the greater the likelihood of recovery.

Assertive Community Treatment Alternative (ACT-ALT)

A specialized program providing intensive community-based rehabilitation services to identified consumers with severe and persistent mental illnesses who have a history of multiple hospitalizations. Program goal is to maintain community living by reducing hospitalizations and improving level of functioning.

Assessment

Includes a mental health evaluation for individuals who are seeking mental health services. All individuals seeking services are assessed by a qualified mental health professional to determine eligibility for services. Program assignments are made considering needs and eligibility preferences. Individuals who do not qualify for an admission for services are referred to other community resources.

Case Management

Available to those individuals identified as eligible for this service upon completion of a Diagnostic Assessment as well as a needs assessment. Services assist eligible individuals in gaining access to medical, social, educational, and other appropriate services that will help achieve quality of life and community participation. Service activities include crisis treatment, monitoring, screening and assessment, service planning and coordination. Program goal is to achieve stability in the community.

Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services

Services can be accessed by calling for an assessment by a licensed professional. Based on the outcome of the assessment a parent or primary caregiver may access a comprehensive array of behavioral health services that are designed to improve your child's functioning and reduce symptoms. Services are provided to eligible children ages 3 through 17. Services include: assessment, medication clinic, counseling, skills training, case management, family support, crisis intervention and inpatient crisis stabilization.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Limited counseling services by licensed staff for short-term counseling needs are available to persons eligible for Service Package 2 level of care based on Diagnosis and Needs Assessment

Continuity of Care

Works with persons who are entering or leaving state or local contracted psychiatric hospital care and assists in the transition back to the community. Family involvement is emphasized. The program goal is to monitor progress during the hospitalization and effectively links the consumer with aftercare services upon discharge.

Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Substance Diagnosis (COPSD)

These are special services offered to those who have both mental illness and substance abuse problems. These services focus on helping to find ways to deal with the special problems that happen when you have both of these conditions at the same time.

Crisis Services

Provides a continuously available staffed telephone service providing information, support and referrals, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Individuals who are experiencing an acute emotional episode may call the Crisis Hotline or walk in to the local mental health clinic for emergency assessment by a clinician. The assessment is likely to include immediate intervention services and planning for crisis support as follow-up. Immediate needs are addressed, and a plan is made to include natural supports. Trained mental health professionals are responsible for pre-admission screening for the State Hospitals.
Integrated Health

Because individuals with severe and persistent mental illness are at a higher risk of developing comorbid health conditions, CRCS is committed to treating the whole health of those enrolled in our services. By connecting a Primary Care Physician with a Behavioral Health Provider, CRCS works together to provide a team of whole health professionals, who coincide with your emotional, behavioral, and physical health & wellness.

Medication Services

Services provided by a physician, which includes the provision of medication. Provides medication monitoring and education to better treat and inform the consumers of the need for continuous treatment.
Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This program originated in Australia in 2001 developed by Betty Kitchener, a psychiatric nurse, and Anthony Jorn, a researcher. In 2008 the curriculum and program expanded to the United States. In 2012, the Youth version of the program became available in the US as well. The goals of the program remain to destigmatize conversations around mental health and promote awareness of local resources so people know where they can turn for local and national help.
PASRR MH

Pre-admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) is a federally mandated program that requires all states to pre-screen all individuals seeking admission to a Medicaid certified nursing facility. Many people with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities can safely live in a community setting while receiving the support services they need. Preadmission Screening and Resident Review is a process that helps ensure people who need these supports are only placed in a nursing facility when appropriate.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation

Provides psychiatric rehabilitation services to authorized consumers eligible for an intensive level of care focusing on recovery, empowerment, symptom management, and meeting identified individualized treatment needs. Rehabilitation services include site-based group training and community-based individual training. Program goal is to improve life skills and independent functioning, reduce hospitalizations and arrests.
Substance Use Treatment Program

Camino Real Community Services offers Substance Use Disorder services to anyone age 13 and older. Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorder (COPS-D) services are provided to individuals that have a dual diagnosis of mental health and substance use. Intensive Outpatient Services are provided when the recurrent use of alcohol and/or drugs causes clinically significant impairment.

Supported Employment

Service activities with the capacity to provide individualized assistance in choosing and obtaining employment, integrated work sites in regular community jobs, and long-term supports provided by identified staff who will assist individuals in keeping employment and/or finding another job as necessary. Services include job readiness, job interview training, job coaching, job search, job development and follow-up with individual and employer. Program goal is to secure and maintain employment for individuals with a mental illness. Intensity of this varies based on authorized Service Package and/or level of care.

Supported Housing

Service activities designed to assist persons with severe and persistent mental illness choose, get and keep regular integrated housing. Services consist of individualized assistance in finding and moving into regular, integrated housing; temporary rental assistance and coordination of activities that facilitate access to resources or services that support or assist the consumer. Program goal is to secure and maintain community living.
Veterans

A program that is employing Veterans who have been empowered through training to provide mentorship to their peers. They promote access to services, create and identify resources for transportation, housing, and linkages to traditional Veterans services. This enables more area Veterans to provider good quality peer support to comrades-in-arms within their own community.
YES Waiver Services

The YES (Youth Empowerment Services) Waiver is a 1915 (c) Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services Waiver that allows for more flexibility in the funding of intensive community-based services to assist children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances to provide stabilization and live in the community with their families. Waiver services are provided in combination with services available through the Medicaid State Plan, other federal, state, and local programs the individual may qualify for, and the natural supports that families and communities provide.
